Swim Program

The Granite Marlins swim team is a great way to improve your swimming skills and is a fun and rewarding experience. Last year's team consisted of 200 swimmers. Any child between the ages of 5 and 18 is eligible to join the team. The Marlins compete in the Richmond Metropolitan Aquatic League (RMAL) where they compete against 15 other pools in the Richmond area.

Swimming Lessons: Granite offers private swimming lessons:

Our assistant swim team coaches Rebecca Thompson (647-6570), Jim Tracy (852-1577), Kelly Allen (513-0850) and Joss Sallade (516-6215) are also available for private swim lessons. Please call for availability and times.

Douglas Aquatics has their own signs posted at the pool with information on group lessons.

Some swimming ability or lessons are required before joining the team. Swim team membership is a fun way for children to make lasting friendships while receiving excellent swim instruction. Swim practices are held in the mornings and evenings.

The Granite Marlins compete in six swim meets each summer followed by a championship swim meet for qualified competitors at the end of the season in late July. A swim banquet celebration is held at the end of the season to recognize all of the children for their hard work and best efforts. The Granite Marlins always have very active participation and help from all participating families which makes us one of the best teams in the league.

During the pool season, the RMAL web site is updated regularly with all competition times and scores.
